Candle close and rollover
Triple swap tonight. The close that ends the Wednesday session carries three days of swap, because the spot value date rolls over the weekend. A position you would happily hold through any other rollover costs — or pays — three times as much through this one.

What IST is, and what it does to your session times
IST is UTC+5:30 all year — one of the few half-hour offsets in active use, and a reliable source of arithmetic errors in hand-built session tables.
The IST trading day, week and year
India's half-hour offset puts every other session on an odd minute. At UTC+5:30 the daily candle closes at 03:30 IST through the American winter and 02:30 IST through the American summer, which in 2026 changed on 8 March and changes back on 1 November, so a trader who follows Europe and America is still awake at the close either way.
London opens at 13:30 IST in the European winter and 12:30 IST from 29 March to 25 October 2026. The most liquid part of the forex day, the London morning, therefore starts over an Indian lunch hour and runs through the afternoon, and New York follows at 18:30 or 17:30 IST, which puts the London and New York overlap in the Indian evening. Tokyo opens at 05:30 IST all year, because neither Japan nor India changes its clocks.
Sydney's open is the odd one out. It moves between 02:30 and 03:30 IST on Sydney's own dates, 5 April and 4 October in 2026, which are neither the European nor the American ones. For a trader in India the session table changes on six different weekends a year, two for each of New York, London and Sydney, while the Indian clock itself never moves.
An Indian working day from 09:00 to 17:00 is the Asian session with London arriving after lunch: Tokyo is open until 14:30 IST, Sydney until 11:30 or 12:30, and London from 13:30 in winter or 12:30 in summer. The forex week closes in the early hours of Saturday, at 03:30 or 02:30 IST, and reopens at the same hour early on Monday, so the weekend gap has already printed before an Indian trader's Monday begins.
India meets the American calendar in the evening: the US releases scheduled for 08:30 New York time are published at 19:00 IST in the northern winter and 18:00 IST in the northern summer, and New York's equity market opens at 20:00 or 19:00 IST.

The week's fixed events in IST
On Indian time the European and American events stack up in the evening. The Bank of England is 17:30 in January and 16:30 in July, the US jobs report 19:00 or 18:00, and the London fix 21:30 or 20:30. The Federal Reserve's statement is the late one: 00:30 after midnight in January and 23:30 in July. Australian data comes early in the Indian morning, at 06:00 or 07:00, and the Tankan at 05:20 all year, since neither India nor Japan changes its clocks.
